Schedule:  This is a full time, non-exempt, Monday-Friday day position. This position offers flexible hours based on the needs of the staff and building.

About our community:

Catholic Eldercare is a community of residential facilities in Northeast Minneapolis offering services in assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, memory care, transitional care, and adult day services.

Responsibilities

  1. Support Educational Program Development & Implementation
    • Assist the Director in designing and executing educational programs that meet industry regulations and align with the current needs of Catholic Eldercare (CE) across all service lines.
    • Coordinate and facilitate orientation, annual, and ongoing educational training for all staff using various media formats (live training, video, demonstrations, and computer-based learning).
    • Maintain accurate records of in-service attendance and ensure compliance with educational requirements, providing timely updates to employees, department managers, and administration.
    • Oversee logistics for nursing orientation, including coordination of the Mentor Program.
    • Facilitate and support Nursing Orientation to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new staff.
    • Coordinate clinical placements and training for nursing personnel in partnership with local educational institutions, as outlined in CE's agreements.
    • Represent Catholic Eldercare at community and professional meetings, as requested by the Director, to foster external relationships and professional development.
  2. Assist with Infection Prevention Program
    • Completes employee health screenings, including tuberculosis (TB) testing, hepatitis B vaccinations, and annual flu shots.
    • Perform daily infection control surveillance and responds accordingly.
    • Track and compile monthly infection statistics for residents and monitor staff for infectious disease trends.
    • Participate in Infection Prevention seminars and meetings to stay up to date with industry standards.
    • Assist in data collection, reporting, and analysis related to infection prevention efforts, quality improvement programs, and outcomes, under the guidance of the Director.
  3. Maintain Quality and Safety Standards
    • Perform all duties in adherence to Catholic Eldercare’s quality standards, infection control protocols, and safety guidelines, using evidence-based best practices.
  4. Ongoing Professional Development
    • Participate in in-service programs and meetings to enhance skills, acquire new knowledge, and meet state and federal continuing education requirements.
    • Stay current with mandatory training requirements, including tuberculosis screening and other related topics.
  5. Team Collaboration and Adaptability
    • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and service lines and adapt to changes in work assignments to meet the needs of residents and staff.
    • Participate in daily interdisciplinary team meetings.
  6. Additional Duties
    • Perform other reasonably similar or related duties as assigned by the Director of Infection Prevention & Staff Advancement.
    • Catholic Eldercare is committed to recognition and effective management of each resident’s pain and suffering. Every employee (within the scope of their position) is responsible to seek relief for any resident observed to be in pain (physical, spiritual or otherwise) through therapeutic intervention (hand holding, physical touch, acknowledgement of discomfort) and reporting the discomfort to the appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Current RN or LPN license to practice nursing in the State of Minnesota.
  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living settings.
  • Trained Infection Preventionist (IP) certification, or commitment to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Highly motivated and energetic individual with the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Preferred qualifications:

    • Certification as a BLS-CPR Instructor
    • Experience with computer-based training platforms.
