Overview

Lead the frontline TCU nursing staff and deliver excellent patient care. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for creating an environment of patient-focused care, defining standards for quality patient care, managing and developing work-based teams for assigned shifts, training new staff and providing leadership to our nursing team. The nurse manager is responsible for working with the interdisciplinary team to manage the clinical staff and program to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and services consistent with regulations and established clinical best practices.  The nurse manager has responsibility as a member of the site leadership team to participate in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure high quality resident care while achieving short and long-term operation goals and objectives for the site.

Responsibilities

  • The nurse manager is responsible for working with the interdisciplinary team to manage the clinical staff and program to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and services consistent with regulations and established clinical best practices.  
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure high quality resident care while achieving short and long-term operation goals and objectives for the site.
  • Recruit, select and guide nursing staff. Supervise and evaluate the work of nursing personnel; including recruiting, orienting, coaching, counseling and development of clinical staff.
  • Communicates effectively with seniors and all members of the care teams.
  • Knowledge and ability to manage staff levels based on HPPD.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with quality standards, infection control,  and safety measures, which includes using Standard Precautions, at all times.
  • Participate in in-service programs, mandatory training, and attend meetings in the interest of improving skills, acquiring knowledge, and meeting state and federal regulations.  
  • Work as a team member and adapt to changes in work assignments to meet resident and/or staffing needs. 
  • Adopt and implement innovative nursing practices to improve our facility
  • Ensure that nursing staff remains in compliance with professional development and regulatory standards
  • Maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment
  • Mentor the Associate Nurse Manager, charge nurses and clinical nurses
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse.
  • Registered Nurse with minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital or TCU nursing; has ability to apply rehabilitative, psychiatric, medical surgical and Gerontological nursing and assessment skills in practice. Experience in nursing management  and/or managerial experience preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to handle inquiries with professionalism.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of nursing personnel; including recruiting, orienting, coaching, counseling and development of clinical staff.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing; computer proficiency is required.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, customers, and the general public.
  • Remain current on tuberculosis screening.
  • Have a good understanding of nursing home reimbursement.
  • Have a strong understanding of SBAR and Interact care paths and transitions.
  • Have experience with electronic health records and discharge software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work efficiently under time constraints
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with a large team
  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
