Overview

Due to organizational growth, Catholic Eldercare is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager supports and collaborates with the Controller, and takes direct ownership of month-end close, billing workflows, and reconciliations for a seven-site senior living organization. The Accounting Manager will serve as a backup for critical accounting functions, play a key role in account reconciliations and financial reporting through SAGE software.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a small team and be involved in a broad range of responsibilities in accounting, the business office, and interacting with residents and families, within a mission-centered environment and culture.

 

Schedule: This is a full time exempt position, working M-F during business hours. HYBRID/ONSITE - 3 DAYS PER WEEK IN THE OFFICE (after training period of approximately 3 months). Candidates MUST live in Minnesota.

Catholic Eldercare is a community of residential facilities in Northeast Minneapolis and Blaine offering services in assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, memory care, transitional care, and adult day services.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will:

  1. Execute month-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports for specific portfolio communities.
  2. Directly oversee Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) billing routines to ensure accurate and timely billing.
  3. Partner with Billing Specialist in AR Aging reviews, actively participating in collection follow-ups and resolving outstanding balances.
  4. Work side-by-side with the Controller to prepare monthly financial reporting packages for community leadership.
  5. Serve as primary, hands-on backup for critical accounting functions and key routines normally handled by the Controller and Senior Accountant.
  6. Participate in detailed reconciliation reviews across the portfolio to maintain internal controls.
  7. Support Controller with annual budgeting, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting requirements, including the financial statement audit, and others as needed.
  8. Maintain appropriate internal controls according to regulations and management policies.
  9. Communicate effectively across all levels of the team, including residents and family members in sensitive financial situations.
  10. Assist a wide variety of stakeholders in a nursing home setting with frequent interruptions.
  11. Continuously identify ways to refine accounting workflows as our mission and community footprint expand.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or beyond) in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum 7-9 years of relevant progressive Accounting experience
    • Solid understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and financial reporting
    • Highly proficient with accounting software (Intacct preferred but not required)
    • Highly proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Continuous improvement mindset with proven process development experience.
    • Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
    • Curiosity to research and strategically resolve a wide variety of problems.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with ERP migration and implementation.
    • Collection of Accounts Receivables.
    • Experience in Senior Living or Healthcare is strongly preferred.

 

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 per year, exempt, depending on qualifications. 40 hours per week, may require additional hours during month-end or other peak times. The Accounting Manager reports to the Controller and is a part of the Business Office.
In-person or hybrid work arrangements possible (2 days remote, 3 days on-site, after training). Hybrid employees must reside in MN.
